Sweet lubi (Spondias dulcis), also known as ambarella, is a tropical fruit-bearing tree that is native to Southeast Asia. It is a small to medium-sized tree that can grow up to 20-30 feet tall. The tree has a smooth, grey-brown bark and a dense, round crown of leaves. The leaves are glossy, dark green and pinnate, with leaflets arranged along the central stem. The tree bears small, round fruit that are yellow or orange in color and have a unique sweet-tart flavor. The fruit is usually harvested when it is fully ripe and slightly soft to the touch.
The fruit of the sweet lubi tree is commonly used in Southeast Asian cuisine, particularly in the Philippines, as a souring agent in curries and stews, and also used to make jams and jellies. The fruit is also rich in Vitamin C, minerals, and other beneficial compounds. In addition to its culinary uses, sweet lubi has been traditionally used in traditional medicine for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties.
